Who Would Make The Better President? The McCain/Obama Debate

Presidential Election

Barrack Obama is now officially the Democratic nominee. The question still remains which candidate will make the better president. McCain is obviously the old school, ex-military choice that embodies good ethics and everything you expect in a Republican candidate. Obama is a man of perseverance and hope and has overcome more than most nominees could ever dream.

His new school energetic approach has found immense backing from younger voters and, even surprisingly, some Republicans. Obama came from a humble financial background, the son of a Kenyan immigrant. His mother worked in a factory, helping make bombers for World War II before eventually attending the University of Hawaii. His parents met while she was attending college there. Obama also was part of a church community group that sought to improve living conditions and lessen crime in the community where he lived in Chicago.

When you take a look at John McCain, the story is somewhat different. His background is not nearly as humble, but beyond that there are some admirable qualities. McCain served his country in the armed forces and is a definite man of character. However, you have to admit comments like, “Our economy is stronger than you realize,” and “I support the war in Iraq,” and not knowing the difference between a Shiite and Sunni can’t help but make you noticeably concerned. Admittedly, no one can deny the great deal of respect and gratitude you feel for his over twenty years of military service, including time spent as a prisoner of war. Unfortunately, just because you respect and like someone doesn’t make them a good leader.

In the end I feel that McCain may be out of touch with how badly things are really are in today’s economy. This is why my vote in November will go to Barrack Obama.

  1. Peter says:

Obama is an old-school Chicago politician, in bed and in hock to convicted criminals like Tony Rezko. He has no ethic, no principle, no scruple, and no business being in public office.

Your saccharine endorsement of an obviously unqualified candidate is revolting and disgusting.
