There are two recent stories I want to focus on, today— because they both concern the same issue.
Let’s start with the one we’ve all heard about, by now: The boss of Chick-Fil-A mentions in an interview— for a religious publication— that he happens to believe marriage is between a man and a woman.
Okay… and? I mean, come on— that’s the point of view Barack Obama swore up and down he had, until some months ago. Heck— that’s the point of view Sir Elton John had, until some months ago!
Of course, the “Eet Mor Chik’n” CEO is a known strong Christian— to the point that his restaurants rarely, if ever, are open on Sunday. (I recall they make exceptions for churches that organize after-service get-togethers… but that’s about it.) So of course he’s an evil bigot who wants to impose his religious beliefs on everyone else… or something.
Anyway, Mayor Rahm Emmanuel of Chicago (pictured) has led— or at least… tried to lead— a boycott of the chicken joint. Tolerant people of America, UNITE!
Well… they did unite. They united in favor of Chick-Fil-A, giving the chain a boom like few had ever seen. I love it when the Left miscalculates.
Now for the second story… one that’s more local, and close to home— for me, anyway, but I’d imagine many of you, dear readers, have a similar tale or two to tell.
As many of you remember, my father, Steven W. Blake, is running for Polk County Property Appraiser against a quintessential RINO, who shall remain nameless. Now… one of the big papers of the county, the Lakeland Ledger, is most decidedly not a fan of the RINO— after all, the office has been involved in some pretty shady stuff, lately. Right or Left, corruption is London-broil steak for the press— well, more so when it concerns the Right, but RINOs kinda count, for the muckrakers. Anyway, Dad’s been getting support by speaking out against the corruption, pledging to clean it up, and do the job right.
So why did the Ledger endorse the RINO— who, remember, it seems to hate? Simple: Our good Mr. Blake has committed what to the mainstream media is an unforgivable sin— proclaim the need for Judeo-Christian values to be brought back to our society— including the government. And suddenly, the paper labels Mr. Blake a simpleton, and hails the RINO as “consistent” and “competent”. (A Chamber of Commerce chapter was similarly “lost” by Dad, for the same reason.)
Okay… no, this isn’t any surprise. After all, the Secular-“Progressives” have for a while by and large succeeded, culture-wise, in painting faith as a “private” matter— you know, you religious people shut up and keep it secret; meanwhile, we Secular-“Progressives” get free rein, going on about how you people are stupid and intolerant!
Look in the mirror, Secularist. In case you haven’t noticed already, the Chick-Fil-A incident has proven that there are more of us than there are of you. No— you don’t like to be reminded of it, do you? In fact, you try to deny it, and prove to yourselves that you have won the culture war! Of course… more and more, these days, these little schemes of yours are constantly exposed for what they truly are— schemes, by incompetents and whining minions who scream and lash out with barks that prove that your bites are inconsequential— if…
Yes, if. Look, folks— I’m talking to my side, now— the Chick-Fil-A incident has proven one simple fact: the way to defeat those who seek to destroy what is good about our culture… is to stand up to them. Stand up, without fear— they are exposed as incompetent dolts, when faced with the full spirit of the American People. They have no power except for what we allow them to have.
There’s hope, my fellow freedom fighters. As I said a few articles ago, The Dark Knight Rises proves that films with unapologetically Conservative themes can occur, in Hollywood— and succeed. The recent cop films Courageous and The Grace Card prove the same thing, with openly Christian messages. The once-thought unreachable fortress of Tinsel-Town is giving way, more and more.
And close to home? Dad’s base is fired up— and fed up, with the smears against our values.
We’ll see who wins this battle. But fear not, fellow warriors— we will, in time, win the war.
