“Pro-Family”: The U.S. and the Rest of the World

by Jessica B. May 8th, 2012 | Political Opinions, Presidential Election
Election fervor is picking up and the Republicans and Democrats are settling into their typical corners of the ring. Republicans repeatedly talk about how they are pro-family, by being pro-life and pro-heterosexual marriage. Democrats talk about how they are pro-family by being "for the children" (though I still haven’t figured out what this means) and working on healthy eating campaigns.

But having spent the last ten years traveling extensively, the one conclusion I have drawn is that neither political party in the US is particularly family-friendly. Let’s take a look around the globe at how families are treated.

Plot Turns

by Eric M. Blake May 7th, 2012 | Conservative Considerations, General Politics, Political Facts
Plot Turn #1:

One of the things you can always expect from the Left is an attempt to control the language of the discussion.  Gay marriage?  “Oh, it’s not a matter of behavior — it’s a matter of RIGHTS!”  Abortion?  “Oh, it’s not a matter of life — it’s a matter of women’s health!”   Taxes?  “Oh, it’s not about hurting or not hurting economic growth — it’s a matter of fairness!”  Spending?  “Oh, it’s not about the government wasting money doing things it’s not good at doing — it’s about helping people!”

by Ronald A. Rowe May 2nd, 2012 | Political Opinions, Winners & Losers
It was a slow week on the political landscape. Even the things that did happen were really more like announcements of the intention to do something at some point. Sluggish action notwithstanding, the panel of experts from Camp Campaign has scoured the newswires to bring you the big Winners and Losers of the Week.

WINNERS:
The Federal Government
Washington DC is intricately tied to the federal government. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Washington transfers to the U.S. government. So the Feds get a freebie of a win this week courtesy of the Washington Redskins,

President Obama’s Biggest Accomplishment

by T Akery May 1st, 2012 | Presidential Election, Presidential News
President Obama's campaign has rolled out on his biggest accomplishments in an ad. What's really sad about this ad is that it is not about the economy, a drop back down to $2-a-gallon gas, health care, jobs, unemployment or even leaving Afghanistan. You know --  the issues that people really care about and the things that affect their everyday lives a great deal. Nope, the biggest accomplishment being publicized centers on the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Yes, it is great that Osama Bin Laden is dead. Yes, it was a big military victory. But the reviews are mixed
