Debate Spotlight: 11/22/2011

by Eric M. Blake November 28th, 2011 | Conservative Considerations, Presidential Election, Republican Reflections
Happy Thanksgiving, folks!  I hope the Black Friday black eyes aren’t too sore….

Now: Anyone who claims that Ron Paul is being “suppressed” in these debates (you know who you are…) should not be able to say that with a straight face, here.  Roughly 1/3 of this debate focused on agreeing or disagreeing with his stances on foreign policy.

Okay.  From Constitution Hall, Washington, D.C.: CNN’s Wolf Blitzer moderating, the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute hosting.  Let’s rock:

Newt Gingrich: The current front-runner began with a superb distinction between criminal law and war against terrorism.  Newt also discussed how one

Bits and Pieces

The Doctor

This past Sunday, everyone's favorite Libertarian in Republican's clothing, Ron Paul, was on Face the Nation in an interview with Bob Schieffer. Ron talked about foreign policy, the economy, and bringing our troops home. It was good to see him finally getting some airtime after polling at a grand rate for months now.

So CBS gives Uncle Ron some airtime, and it's with a man who either doesn't know how to do a proper interview, or has a personal vendetta against Dr. Paul which causes him to twist Paul's words at every opportunity. This is the kind

Newt Ascendant

by Ronald A. Rowe November 23rd, 2011 | Political Opinions, Winners & Losers
Political commentary on the web is so segregated. You’ve got the Conservatives who will bash anything Occupy Wall Street or President Obama does without critical analysis. You’ve got the Liberals who are going to despise the Tea Party and Rush Limbaugh regardless of merit. Isn’t it nice to find one place on the Internet where everybody gets mocked, regardless of political stripe? Welcome to the Winners and Losers for the week ending November 20, 2011.

WINNERS:
Newt Gingrich –
With Herman Cain falling out of favor due to the mounting accusations against him, Newt Gingrich (pictured) gets a nice bounce with

Debate Spotlight: 11/12/2011

by Eric M. Blake November 21st, 2011 | Conservative Considerations, Political Facts, Republican Reflections
First of all: Blast CBS, scheduling this debate at a most inconvenient date: only three days after its predecessor!  Just when I’m recovered from writing my last article—I have to write the next one.

Second: CBS cut off broadcasting the debate after the first hour.  Apparently, the second hour has Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint make appearances.  If nothing else, this demonstrates the immense inconvenience of network television—and why cable news should probably be the sole forum for these things.

Okay.  Here’s the rundown:

Herman Cain: Herman kicked off the debate, reminding us of the Iranian people's opposition to Ahmadinejad— and articulating his strategy

CBS’ Debate Shows the Facade of the Charade

by Jason Lightner November 18th, 2011 | Independent Ideas, Political Opinions, Presidential Election
The two party system has always bothered me. Well, not always. It's not like I was on the playground in 5th grade worrying about the increasing rift forming between the citizens of this country because of a system designed specifically to divide the people. Over the last few election cycles, however, it's become increasingly apparent to me that there may be a larger force at work here. I'm not talking about the Illuminati or Bilderberg or God or any other such nonsense. What I'm referring to is the substantial evidence that corporate money and corporate interest have a stranglehold
