Utopia According to Lightner Pt. 5

by Jason Lightner May 10th, 2013 Independent Ideas
As Andy Ihnatko of the Chicago Sun Times would say, "Good morning, afternoon, or evening. Please delete as appropriate."

I'd hoped to be able to put a ribbon on this series with part five, however,  I made a slight miscalculation with regards to the span of topics. You see, I came to the sudden realization that I'd completely left out one of the more important parts of a free society — voting. We're going to discuss not only voting this week, but also term limits, and the necessary separation of Government, church, and company.

For your convenience:

Is it 2016 Already?

by James Maynard May 9th, 2013 Winners & Losers
The calendar may read 2013, but politicians from both major parties are already gearing up for the next election: No, not 2014 – 2016. Last week saw visits to key primary states from Joe Biden, Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Rand Paul and others. Although no candidate is close to declaring his or her intention to run for the presidency yet, these leaders are laying groundwork that would be vital to such a run. Happy Thanksgiving, folks!  Hope Black Friday wasn’t too bloody for everyone….

Okay, let’s get busy.  Last week, I did my best to diagnose the reasons for our loss on Election Day.  Brief recap:

No, it had nothing to do with “the Republican obsession with social issues”; it had everything to do with the Left’s propaganda about the social issues (“the Republican War on Women,” and all that garbage)— with a couple walking, talking straw men (remember, Akin’s campaign was funded by Democrats) thrown in for good measure.

No, it had nothing to do with “the failed policies of the past” (if it had been, Romney

Mitt Romney Pumps His Own Gas

by Jason Lightner November 23rd, 2012 Independent Ideas
Late this past Monday night, reddit user mkb95 posted an image of former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, looking a bit worse for wear, pumping his own gas like a big boy. A stark contrast from the privileged appearance Romney put on during his campaign. He almost looks like a normal guy and, judging from the comments on reddit, it's getting him some sympathy. Regarding the image, user iamesauce had the following to say:

"C'mon man. Like him or not, the entire f****** Republican party is trying to pin their woes, faults, and inefficiencies on him. Combine that with
