Congressional Spring Break

Congress is taking a well-deserved break from the rigors of usurping states rights and micromanaging the populace.  For the next week, the far Left liberals who have seized control of the Democratic Party and both houses of Congress are not the biggest obstacle to peace, prosperity, and domestic tranquility in the US.  Nor does it fall to the normal runner up, the obstructionist do nothing blame gamers in the GOP.

No, for one week only, live from Washington, DC, all eyes are on the White House.  Only President Obama has the opportunity to make a mess of things for the next seven days.  Oh, VP Biden may be good for a gaffe or two – What does it say about the man when his verbal mishaps are so frequent that the press all but ignores them anymore?  But that’s really just fodder for the Right and the late night talk show hosts.

No, only the president can throw us off track this week.  Maybe he’ll be too busy picking the very best pro-abortion, anti-industry, socialist bench-legislator he can find to be the next Justice of the Supreme Court to come up with any new legislation.  Maybe.  Once again, inaction is the best that we can hope for from our federal government.  How did we ever get to this point?  By tiny degrees, that’s how.

So, for the next week none of your money will be spent on unnecessary building projects in other states.  No one will monkey around with Day Light Savings Time.  There will be no new regulations on how you go about your business.  No stimulus money will be handed out to the inept or immoral failures on Wall Street.

All in all, it should be a good week.

Next week should be OK, too.  Even though Congress will be back in session, they’ll be too busy digging up dirt on each other to do much legislating.  After all, if you give 535 corrupt scoundrels a week off, at least a few of them are bound to do something unseemly with the time off.
