By now we've all experienced the immediate shock from Standard and Poor's downgrade of the United States' credit rating. This came as a shock last week not because people thought the United States was handling its money responsibly, but because there didn't seem to be an end in sight for the stupidity and selfishness of the partisan politics and corporate greed that got us into this mess in the first place. There are ups and downs every week in the world of politics. Here's a quick snapshot of who's up and who's down this time around.
Winners:
Apple - It was widely reported this week that Apple Computers has $76.2 Billion in cash and cash equivalents while the United States Treasury (pictured) has just $73.8 Billion cash on hand. When you've got more money than the U.S. Government, you're doing all right. Or the U.S. Government is doing really, really bad. Let's be optimistic and say that Apple is doing well.
