Obama Hedges His Bets with Joe Biden

Obama finally has chosen his running mate, selecting Senator Joe Biden of Delaware.


Mr. Biden has twice attempted to get the Presidential nomination, in 1988 and twenty years later, in 2008. Perhaps he sees the VP office as a great way to make the White House his home eventually?



Obama has made a carefully measured choice. Biden is a Democratic Senator with loads of experience, having served six terms on Capitol Hill. Although the nominees are not official, it’s pretty much a given that Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee for president, and John McCain will be the Republican’s pick. What’s a poor voter to do, however, if one hates them both equally?

The Presidential race heated up this week, as Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain each accused the other of exploiting racial divisiveness. Barack Obama has a white, American mother and a black, African father, but identifies himself primarily with black African-Americans.
