Are Catholics the New Soccer Moms?

July 30th, 2008 by Lisa Stauber

During the 90’s, the Presidential campaigns began courting a new voting bloc: The Soccer Mom. Democratic nominee Bill Clinton was sure that if he could get the moms in minivans to turn out and vote, he would win – and he was right.

There seems to be a new demographic ready to cast the swing vote, and Republicans and Democrats have taken notice. Both McCain and Obama are spending a lot of time courting Catholics. Obama has even hired a director of

Local Oil?

July 24th, 2008 by Erin Steiner

One of the major points of conflict between our two current presidential candidates is whether or not to drill for oil within the borders of the United States. McCain has gone on the record as being for local drilling and has recently said that Obama's opposition to local drilling is the reason gas prices are so high.

NARAL gave Obama a 100% Pro-Choice rating, in stark contrast to McCain’s 0% rating.

FOCA would repeal any limitations on

Is The Balloting System Full Of Holes?

July 15th, 2008 by Jason Baudendistel

In the election of 2000 thousands of votes disappeared in Florida.  Unfortunately we now know this isn't the first time there have been dificulties with balloting machines or even the balloting process. Over the years there have been several cases, including the Kennedy and Reagan eras where voting machines failed to operate properly or there were cases of bribery and dishonesty involving several elections.

The questions are: Why is faulty machinery still used? Why do people that are open to bribes allowed to work within offices where votes are counted? Why is it that
